Project Management Cpm Gantt - 4148 Words
1a) Network Diagram Gantt Chart: Critical Path The critical path for the Nottingham Rugby Stadium project is: Clear site ââ¬â Drive support piles ââ¬â Pour lower concrete base ââ¬â Build roof supports ââ¬â Construct roof ââ¬â Install roof ââ¬â Inspection This means these activities have no slack and therefore any delay in them will lead to the whole project being delayed. Project Duration The project commences on the Monday June 2nd 2008, and finishes on Friday January 14th 2011, which means work covers 670 days. Milestones Milestones are shown on the Gantt chart with a pink star, and on the network diagram as a diamond shape. These are the key tasks at which the project team should assess its progress. The first milestone isâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦As bad weather will affect the running time of the project, the PM could build a temporary shelter over the section of the stadium being worked on at one time. Therefore the construction team can carry on working in any weather which could overcome the delay. This is a common problem for projects in England for example work to widen a bridge on the M1 was delayed due to cold weather as ââ¬Å"low temperatures brought work to a haltâ⬠(BBC News, 21.3.08). The shelter will cost money and time to put up and the PM will have to assess whether this option would be worthwhile, and even possible, for the completion of the project. Related to this point is the option that the PM could re-negotiate the terms of the penalty imposed on West Construction. For example if the penalty is caused by something out of the teamââ¬â¢s control e.g. bad weather then the penalty should be reduced or shared between West Construction and Nottingham Rugby Football Club. Also in terms of the ââ¬Ëtimeââ¬â¢ aspect of the project the PM could shift resources e.g. people, equipment, etc, from non-critical to critical activities i.e. the critical path. It is frequently required to re-estimate the duration and staffing requirements of the critical path as the project progresses and changes occur (Kumar, 2005). The non-critical activities could then be allowed to consume their slack which will not affect theShow MoreRelatedGantt Chart1663 Words à |à 7 PagesGantt Chart Introduction. Real World Connection Free Essays
Real World Connector In the chapter Church, I felt a connection with Kiowa. ââ¬Å"Not a minister,â⬠he said, ââ¬Å"but I do like churches. The way it feels inside. We will write a custom essay sample on Real World Connection or any similar topic only for you Order Now It feels good when you just sit there, like youââ¬â¢re in a forest and everythingââ¬â¢s really quiet, except thereââ¬â¢s still this sound you canââ¬â¢t hearâ⬠. The way I relate to this part is the same way I feel when I go to a temple (similar to a church) I feel the same way. When I go to the temple I sit there and listen to the prayer. But when I get into the prayer, everything goes quiet. I get this really good feeling inside myself. All my fears are taken over by peace. I think thatââ¬â¢s why Kiowa says this is ââ¬Å"just wrongâ⬠to be inside a holly place. One thing I didnââ¬â¢t understand the monks cleaning the solider weapons. Was there so representative of this. I know in my temple the minister is not allowed to touch weapons. Overall, a temple or a church are both religious place, but are both peaceful places. We are supposed to feel save in a place or worship. Henry Dobbin tells us about how he liked the whole idea of being a minister. ââ¬Å"I was a kid. The thing is, I believed in God and all that, but it wasnââ¬â¢t the religious part that interested me. Just being nice to people, thatââ¬â¢s all. Being decentâ⬠. The teaching of any church or temple are the same. God tells us to be good humans, and give back to the community. I agree and disagree with Henry Dobbins. I agree with him to the part about being a nice person. I disagree with the part when he says ââ¬Å"it wasnââ¬â¢t the religious part that interested meâ⬠. The reason I disagree with this is because reglion should about be an interest not only the lessons of God. Maybe I misunderstand what Henry Dobbin was saying. Drug use among adolescences may lead to delinquency for the fact that an adolescentsââ¬â¢ behavior most likely started before the start of drugs or alcohol. I will give a brief explanation on reasons for delinquency and drug use starting with reasons adolescents may start using drugs or alcohol and then describe how drug use may relate to delinquency. According to studies adolescents who experienced substance abuse gave several reasons in why they turned to drugs or alcohol such as ââ¬Å"my friends pressured meâ⬠or ââ¬Å"I wanted to feel good and get high,â⬠ââ¬Å"to have a good time with friends,â⬠or to ââ¬Å"escape from my problemsâ⬠(Titus, Godley White 2006, p33. ). We will write a custom essay sample on Drug Use and Delinquency or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Research typically shows the reasons related to starting drugs or alcohol is peer-social behavior, dealing with negative conditions or feelings, or achieving a satisfying state (Titus, Godley White, 2006). Studies reveal positive and negative emotions in the understanding of deviant behavior in youthsââ¬â¢. Most teenagers generally use drugs for gratification however the adolescents who may become addicted say they are unhappy with past decisions or current situations (Brunelle, Cousineau, Brochu, (2005). There could be many factors in how drug use becomes related to delinquency for example by having family conflict inside the house it could lead to an adolescences delinquency such as damaging property or the start of substance abuse. Research shows adolescents with less supervision and monitoring, more family conflict, and weak parent/child attachment most likely is at more risk in delinquency and drug use (Fagan, Van Horn, Antaramian Hawkins 2011).
